Describe your position:
I’m an Account Executive here at Platform Communications, which means I spend a lot of time working with clients and helping them solve their problems. I work across a wide range of industries where I rely heavily on my background with the state legislature and public affairs.
What is something your clients likely don’t know about you?
I spend a lot of free time with my dog Zia, and she brings me just as much fulfillment as my job here at Platform. I spend hours every week training her to do anything and everything, including useless tricks. Zia is a huge part of my life, and she never fails to make me smile.
What drew you to work in communications, specifically the position you are in now?
I have a background in legislature and other government and political communications, and I have always loved the intersection between public policy and communications. One of my favorite parts about the work that I do is when I casually come across Platform’s work in the news. Whether that is watching it pop up on the TV at the bar or seeing it as I scroll through Twitter, it is really cool to be able to be involved in what Wisconsinites are seeing day-in and day-out.
What are the most important skills you need to be successful in your position?
I think it is very important to have a problem-solving mindset and a strong attention to detail to ensure that I am identifying and meeting clients’ needs, sometimes even before they know what they need.
What is your favorite aspect of your position?
My favorite part of my job is the ability to integrate with clients and be a major part of many different organizations that may not seem to be connected at all. For example, one minute I may be working on a local solar project and the next I could be pitching statewide coverage for a different client.
What is your favorite part about working at Platform?
A really cool aspect of being a part of the Platform team is the yearly retreat. The whole team spends the day together doing different activities, from team building to professional development. At the end of the day, we have a fun event that sometimes involves our clients. In years past, we have been able to watch the Brewers game from a suite!
